Rory's Eight Months Old

Grammy's Table

My great grandmother had this awesome table that swizzles and turns to full size and half size. I've had it for years and while it's super cool, it's not very pretty anymore. I've been wanting to paint it forever but didn't know where to start. I finally took the project on when my mom was in town to help with Rory while I worked. I love how it turned out but I might reprint the top 'cause I'm not sure I like the antiqued top. I would also like to give it a shinier finish when I find the time.

Duck Poppers

My brother-in-law makes the most incredible Duck Poppers!!! I learned the recipe and made them for the Civil War Oregon vs. Oregon State game today. What's more appropriate then Grilling a duck on game day? They're always a hit! Here's how to make them. Trim some duck breast and cut them into about half inch cubes. Cut bacon in half. Place a piece of duck on the end of a piece of bacon. Place a chunk on cream cheese on the duck and a piece of jallepeno on top of that. Sprinkle some Tony's creole seasoning all over. Roll it up and skewer it with a toothpick. Marinade for about an hour in Yoshida's Sweet Teriyaki. BBQ until the bacon is crispy. Next time I'll do all the prep before marinading the night before because they're time consuming. They'll blow your guests away and they'll be devoured in no time. YUM!

ROOAAR

Grammy made Rory his first Halloween costume.  He's going to be a lion.  We're going to be in Mexico on Halloween so he came to visit work on Friday dressed up.  He's so adorable in it.  Every one and awhile he pulls the hat off, but mostly he tolerates it and he really seems to love the attention.

2012 Winemaking Adventure

Every year we join a group of Stryker friends for a wine making trip.  Brian Fouts brother and uncle provide the grapes, equipment and expertise and we provide the labor.  This year I made lunch which of course I loved!!!  This was the first year that we had to be responsible parents so we had to leave a little early, but still had just enough time to indulge in some wine. The 2012 Red Winemakers Bish picking grapes.  We filled buckets to haul back to the crusher. I picked a few bunches but I mostly "documented" the event :) Lunch.  What a stunning backdrop. I used chalkboard vinyl to make make labels for the food. The table cloth is oil cloth. Stuffed sandwich.  Found this idea on interest.  I think it would be better with some cured meats mixed in. The best cheese!  I made the cheese labels with a label maker and toothpicks and just cut the ends. I setup a panini press next to the sandwiches and guests could add meat and
