Duck Poppers

My brother-in-law makes the most incredible Duck Poppers!!! I learned the recipe and made them for the Civil War Oregon vs. Oregon State game today. What's more appropriate then Grilling a duck on game day? They're always a hit! Here's how to make them.

Trim some duck breast and cut them into about half inch cubes.

Cut bacon in half.

Place a piece of duck on the end of a piece of bacon.

Place a chunk on cream cheese on the duck and a piece of jallepeno on top of that.

Sprinkle some Tony's creole seasoning all over.

Roll it up and skewer it with a toothpick.

Marinade for about an hour in Yoshida's Sweet Teriyaki.

BBQ until the bacon is crispy.

Next time I'll do all the prep before marinading the night before because they're time consuming. They'll blow your guests away and they'll be devoured in no time. YUM!

Rory's 4 Months Old

Grammy's Table

My great grandmother had this awesome table that swizzles and turns to full size and half size. I've had it for years and while it's super cool, it's not very pretty anymore. I've been wanting to paint it forever but didn't know where to start. I finally took the project on when my mom was in town to help with Rory while I worked. I love how it turned out but I might reprint the top 'cause I'm not sure I like the antiqued top. I would also like to give it a shinier finish when I find the time.

Slanted Door - San Francisco

The amazing thing about Slanted Door is how popular it is on a random Tuesday night.  We couldn't get over how many people were there.  Trish, Molly, and Jeannie and I decided a few months ago when we had dinner in the city that we would not make the trip again without a reservation at a restaurant that makes it worth it.  We started brainstorming the San Francisco restaurants that we wanted to try or revisit and the first on our list was Slanted Door in the Ferry Building.  SUPER good eats but even better company.  I absolutely love these "girls" nights filled with yummy food, all of life's details, and Trish's inappropriate humor that has us all rolling!! I didn't think I liked spare ribs but Trish convinced me to try them and they were awesome! Trish had these last time and insisted on ordering them.  The crispy shallots made the dish. The waitress spilled water on my phone so I got complementary Cotton Candy.  So fun!!
